New Mexican Restaurant Opens Inside Historic Ashe’s Hotel Building On 85 Hudson Street
WARRENSBURG, N.Y. (February 11, 2019) – Lotus Group opened Ocho Cinco Cantina (https://ochocincocantina.com) here – its new casual, yet upscale Mexican restaurant – after months of work and capital investment to transform a portion of the historic Ashe’s Hotel building at 85 Hudson Street into the new establishment. Last Thursday the company held an official ribbon-cutting event at the eatery, in conjunction with the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce and featuring New York State Senator Betty Little, who helped cut the ribbon.

The new restaurant, which shares separate first-floor space with Ashes Pub (also owned and operated by the Lotus Group), brings a colorful tropical/Caribbean influence to the building, along with a popular style of cuisine that was sorely lacking in the Warrensburg area. Ocho Cinco Cantina is the first-ever Mexican restaurant to open in Warrensburg, and will provide locals and visitors alike with high-quality, freshly made Mexican favorites, as well as a variety of hand-crafted margaritas.
“I am thrilled to open Ocho Cinco Cantina to the public, especially after all the hard work we’ve put into transforming the Ashe’s Hotel building into the vibrant new space that now welcomes our customers,” said Ash Anand, CEO and president of Lotus Group. “Having a great Mexican restaurant in Warrensburg has been long overdue. We hope the members of our community, as well as visitors to the region, will love having a new dining option that stands apart from all other offerings in the area. This was another great opportunity for Lotus to fill a void and create more jobs in the community.”
Ocho Cinco Cantina – sporting a name inspired by the building’s 85 Hudson Street address — represents another creative commerce win for Lotus Group, which was tasked with reinventing the space after a spring 2018 fire damaged a portion of the building, including its kitchen. Many improvements were made thereafter, including the installation of a new walk-in refrigerator and the creation of dividers between the restaurant and Ashes Pub, on top of many other significant upgrades performed there since Lotus acquired the building in 2016.
“We have invested more than $200k in the building since acquiring it, including many structural, functional and cosmetic upgrades,” said Anand. “It is an iconic building here in Warrensburg, and we are excited about its rebirth as this unique new dining concept. This is yet another example of Lotus Group’s ongoing commitment to improving our local community and providing products and services that previously didn’t exist here.”
The restaurant’s menu draws from a range of popular dishes, merging Tex-Mex, So-Cal and Oaxacan cuisines into one cohesive offering. The food is prepared fresh on-site, using only high-quality ingredients, yet affordably priced for all budgets. Although the restaurant provides seated, full-service dining, takeout is also available and is expected to be a major portion of the restaurant’s business.
After a soft-opening in January, Ocho Cinco Cantina is now serving dinner seven nights per week, as well as lunch from Wednesday through Sunday. On Mondays and Tuesdays, the restaurant begins serving at 4:30 p.m.; it opens at noon on all other days and stays open throughout the day until its evening closing.
